Wakeboarding Tips

If you have picked up an interest in wakeboarding, a few wakeboarding tips could have you on your way to lots of fun in the water.
The first of all wakeboarding tips also applies to everyone who does water sports--wear a PFD or personal flotation device at all times. Wakeboarding is a huge amount of fun but you can never be too careful when dealing with water, boats and speed. Another person also needs to be on the boat in addition to the driver. This person has the responsibility of letting the driver know where you are at any moment and has to keep an eye out for any other boats or obstructions in the water that could pose a danger. The driver has enough to do with running the boat--a second person is a necessity.
With wakeboarding as in skateboarding, when you are dealing with two feet planted on a board, the very first thing you have to decide is which is your prominent foot--the right or the left. When you put on a pair of pants, for instance, the side you put on first is your prominent side and thus, your prominent foot. It is this foot that you want on the front of the wakeboard.
If you a beginner wakeboarder, it is best to start out using a shorter rope in the 30 to 40 foot range. This will make it easier for you to get in and out of the water. It is also better for beginners to keep the rope handle low and parallel to the water. Make sure your driver knows the proper speed for wakeboarding which is 15 mph range.
When you first get onto the wakeboard you should have the majority of your weight distribution on the front of the board and then once you are fully in the standing position you should move your weight back to your rear foot.
Don’t get frustrated if you are not perfect or even close to perfect the first time you go wakeboarding. It takes some time to get all of the different aspects of movement and balance in sync. Don’t expect to be doing all kinds of tricks the first few times out. Just concentrate on being relaxed and having fun and the technique will come.
There are lots of places online to get information on wakeboarding. Check out some of them and the local library to get wakeboarding tips.
